Are you thinking about an update to your family room? The room where all the kids end up with a game controller in their hand? This sofa can be altered according to how many people you need to accommodate.
I love the variation of the shades of grey in this swatch. But this isn't the only color this sectional comes in 55 other color choices. Is that too many? Well they aren't all grey, several are in shades of brown, green, red, blue and even white. All the fabric swatches are created from easy to clean material and all have great durability.
Since I recently lost my job I can put my focus back on my family and this blog. Turns out I'm not the best salesperson the store manager and I thought I would be. Seems like whenever I work outside of the home I can't give adequate attention to my family which is so much more important to me than a job anyway. To redeem myself from the guilt I have, I plan to do the things listed below in December. All of the things listed may not seem like fun to you but they will give me great joy. Print this out if you'd like and mark off as many as you want.

I will jump right back in today with dining room tables. I love the new one that Jen Migonis recently purchased. It makes a beautiful statement on it's own so I can't wait to see what the rest of her dining room looks like.
Here is a dining room set if you are in the market for a new table.

This Trestle Table from Liberty Furniture is well constructed. All the pieces made by this company are from hard wood, then have a beautiful veneer overlay that has a lacquer coating making them easy to clean. To complete the design, the table's base has extra pieces which makes for a very sturdy table. I love the overall look and the fact that it can become smaller by the removable leaves in both ends. The overall dimensions are <span style="background-color: #fafafa; color: #0b5394; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.96px; text-align: center;">W40 x D102 x H30.<span style="background-color: #fafafa; color: #5b5226; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.96px; text-align: center;"> Each leaf is 12" making the table 78" long when they're removed.

This dining room set has additional pieces to complete your whole dining room. Like this Server that can be dressed up for each holiday or season. Dimensions on this piece are <span style="color: #0b5394; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.96px; text-align: center;">W55 x D22 x H36<span style="color: #5b5226; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.96px; text-align: center;">. I find that this depth of just 22" is perfect for most 12'-0" feet wide dining rooms. You will still have enough room to walk around the table, even with someone sitting in the chairs.

Do you need more storage? You can add an extra Leaning Shelf unit that are <span style="color: #0b5394; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: 12.96px; text-align: center;">W34 x D13 x H76 to hold your special dishes or even the everyday dinnerware. Keeping with the style of the trestle table these ladder shelves complete the look as they are placed one on each side of the server. I admire the design of these shelves because it was well thought out. Notice how as the shelves drop down in increments creating 5 extra places for display, the depth increases. Also I love that no matter how deep each shelf is they still rest against the back wall. That's reassuring knowing the ladder shelves will hold my dishes safely.
You still have enough time to have a new dining room set in your home before Christmas.
Brill Furniture
I had a nice chat with our Brill furniture representative, and here are some qualities you would like. They are made here in the USA, we get our shipments from Indiana. They have all hard wood frames. under each cushion they space 3 sinuis springs, unless it's a sofa with only two cushions then they are spread evenly. Seat cushions are solid foam with ratios of density and compression. The heavier the person is like 275+ you would need a higher density and better compression.

A quote remembered from Bill... Old mam Richards from Richards Bedding said "If you bought a mattress-depending on the quality-and all you did was sleep on it, it should last you a lifetime".

We like Palliser Furniture versus Natuzzi Italian made products. We can get great quality leather furniture from this Canadian based company and not pay the freight it cost to get the furniture from Italy to America. They use a webbing material woven for their support on the hard wood frames. This same material is also used in Michelin tires. We need inexpensive good quality leather sofas around $1200 - $1500 dollars.

We have carried furniture from a company named Winners Only for over 20 years.

We do not purchase for our showroom or carry floral patterned sofas.

Klaussner Furniture can be special ordered from us for $100 dollars and up (depending on the material grade chosen) than the ticket price we have on the floor. Klaussner responds quickly to problems. They have hard wood frames. Klaussner has a bigger special order selection than some other companies we carry. They sell more furniture nation wide.

Best Furniture is packaged well. This prevents any damage to the furniture during transportation from their small company in Indiana to us.

Broyhill Furniture has improved their customer service.
If you have been in need of replacing furniture or purchasing furniture for your first time, then you will benefit from reading this! There are tons of different brands of furniture out there, but they're not all the same. The brands I have experience with are Best, Brill, Broyhill, Flexsteel, Klausner, Lane, & Palliser. I have access to other brands and occasionally we host a few on the showroom floor that I work at. Let’s start off with one of my favorites, the Flexsteel Brand Company.

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.92; white-space: pre-wrap;">Their upholstery or leather selections plus the different styles help you mix and match in your home or office whether you lean more to the traditional or a modern look. They’ve developed and patented over 75 years ago the Blue Steel Spring which provides support in the frames of their sofas, loveseats, chairs, recliners and much, much more. When you sit down on a Flexsteel piece of furniture you are guaranteed durability.

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.92; white-space: pre-wrap;">The cushions consisting of a dense foam also confirm that any piece of furniture bought with their name on it will withstand years of use. You will appreciate the rigors of testing they’ve put their products through. Some furniture like an occasional or accent chair is placed in a room to fill an empty spot rather than being enjoyed or consistently used. A Flexsteel chair will provide comfortable seating no matter where it lands. But I doubt it will stay in a corner long because of the comfortable seating it offers. <span style="background-color: transparent; color: #333333; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">

It has expanded throughout time to include recreational vehicles that needed sofas to convert into a bed, seating areas that turn into a table. They manufacture bucket seats for GM automobiles industry, and produce recliners with an adjustable lumbar support. From the original four men in 1893, who at that time worked together in a Minnesota furniture company, bought it to begin what we now know as the Flexsteel Company. Improving and embracing the technology demands over the years, they have increased to 5 factories spread across America.

Some use glass in practical ways to show the location of daily dishware. Sometimes glass is used to display special dishes that are used only occasionally. Then again some glass insets are used to conceal the contents therein. Whatever your needs are you'll notice that glass panels can fit into modern style or more traditional kitchen designs.
Although this kitchen appears as a farmhouse style, and is on a smaller scale you can clearly find the dish you need.
I love this kitchen as the designer defines the difference between dining room and kitchen with the use of color on the cabinetry. It makes this section set apart from the rest of the cabinets declare it's purpose as a hutch. However both areas have cabinetry with glass inserts and notice too the small glassed panel sections that are lit up in the kitchen.

I really love the idea of having the glass insets above your regular cabinets to display larger dishes like a platter or special occasion dishware. These cabinets look wonderful when they have a light source to make your kitchen and collectibles glow in the evening.

This one is Made by Wesley Hall Furniture in Hickory, North Carolina. I bet you would see a display from them at High Point Market.

Price dominates my decisions. However this would be worth it to receive such quality.
Cool also was watching another woman using a spinning wheel making actual yarn. She fed the wheel from a handful of sheep hair puff, and off the wheel came a strand of yarn that she used in her next project. Craft designers who knit, crochet, or wove understood the process of dying their own material. I like the idea that they made it from beginning to end. I'm waiting for this to come back around this spring because this time I'll be ready.

When I thought about defining the differences between "What is Contemporary?" verses "What is Modern?" I could not give a clear answer. Maybe the term contemporary and modern are loosely used however they are one in the same? Which wouldn't make sense because why have two different words if they are truly not two different styles. So I began searching with my preconceived ideas trying to define the differences for myself. Is contemporary a style, a certain style with defined products or manufacturers? Is it about color only bright colors need to apply? Is it the combination of products made in bright colors? Then furniture came to mind and I questioned myself with 'what about the clean look, smooth surfaces with neat corners?' Maybe its the raw material used like glass, plastic, metal.
What I discovered is it was not all bright colors, although this picture from the J Design Group has bright red walls paired with white and separated using gray trim. None of the furnishings used in this interior are bright colors. The sofa is white, as is the coffee table, and the area rug, although a noticeable design is drizzled in black. What is unusual about the space besides the artistic wall, is several pieces have neat, clean corners. Unique too are the glass door and that flowering sculpture in the corner.

A wonderful example of contemporary design is shown from the Belsize Architects. They do many projects however this particular one created to allow in natural light in the relatively small area accomplishes much. The square footage of the place I deem as an apartment or loft lets one enter and immediately feel the expanse of the room. Instead of feeling confined into a long rectangular main floor where width is challenged, they capitalized from the feelings of enclosure using height. Opening up the main level by use of steel beams gives a clear vision above. Two bedrooms sit up top with a slight curvature designed into the wall material. Glass panels are used for division and safety around the stairwell. This main floor entry offers a kitchen to your left a sitting room to the right. You may choose to go up into the bedrooms or down into the lower level.

Using slats for an exterior construction product has become increasingly popular in architecture.
This example using wooden slats here are fixed in place but allow natural light in without disturbing the existing brick.
Does the use of materials (concrete, glass, fabric, metal, wood, or plastic) make it contemporary? I'd say 'No', because all these products are used in other styles of homes.

When furniture came to mind and I questioned myself with 'what about the clean look, smooth surfaces with neat corners?' And 'Yes' furniture can be designed in a contemporary manner. They do have a clean smooth look about them. Notice this lounge above (Park Square Mews) with the hyde design material on a sleek metal base. Below the interior shows a red upholstered chair unusual in shape with a chunky bottom and thinner back.

Glass ceiling skylights/Glass floor Bent wood furniture sculpture

I found more examples from the London Belsize Architects who are labeled the 'Best in Contemporary' designers, as they featured this single family home. They are not afraid to branch out of the typical like this wooden structure creating a useful entertainment center with plenty of storage. The design depicts a Piet Mondrian painting, more about him in another post. Here they combined both wooden doors concealing storage in the shapes for the totally functional entertainment center. So a functional entertainment center/storage area plus material used creatively allows this unique interior be called a contemporary design. Belsize architects also needed to allow light into the lower level of this project. The lower level is mentioned to have a great view of the garden and waterfall wall. However very little natural light would come in. To solve that problem they used a film coated glass for the ceiling as skylights yet in the upper level this is an actual glass floor to walk on. So clever.

Is contemporary a style, a certain style with defined products or manufacturers? A certain style 'YES' but not because of certain materials.
To answer all my questions of what makes for a contemporary design. I would sum it up by saying; Contemporary design is the unusual placement and/or use of objects that are not common to the products use or area in which it's used. Hope that helped you I know I have a much clearer understanding now.
Are you involved in the coloring craze? I feel this idea of coloring to relieve stress is so enjoyed by all ages. I know it helps me get in touch with a creative side of myself that has been squelched for awhile. I can pick up a crayon or as in these two examples below display coloring using Berol Prisma-Colored Pencils. I really love Berol Prisma-colored pencils I'd purchased when in college as a prescribed tool from one of my classes. I have enjoyed coloring with them over the years, but as time has passed, some of those pencils have broke, been lost, or eaten by the dog. So I added a small set into my cart along with a few books just to use purposely for coloring these books.

I always keep color books and crayons around for the purpose of entertaining kiddos when friends come for a visit. I join right in with the coloring at the table. I could loose myself in this simple creative activity and forget all about the stress of the day. I think I'm a kid at heart especially when we have to entertain anyone who hasn't outgrown coloring.

During our Christmas shopping I made sure to add a few Adult coloring books to my cart for my teenagers, who have stressful classes. On snow days when the snow is piling up outside and the hot chocolate is inside it is also fun to sit with the books and handful of pencils. I bought my books from Michael's, but I have spotted them in a few other locations too. Just last week while I was in JoAnne Fabric's I ran across some of the same books.

I really like rugs and rug designs. This particular one was found on wayfair and it "wowed" my socks off.

Soon as I saw the colors in the area rug made by Andover Mills, I knew it matched my home palate. The pattern isn't screaming 'look at me' which I feel there is a cause for that to happen just not in my home. These colors are subtle and blend easily with my color palate choices.
I've have a busy day in front of me, so I thought I'd just pop in with a little Hello. I enjoy getting caught up in a good mystery and I never guess who done it. I enjoy reading these books "Love Inspired Suspense" with the trials of these fictional characters and just a little hand holding sprinkled in.

Books I've read

These books usually have the main characters struggling with their spiritual belief's where they may have suffered a tragic experience that challenges them in their faith.

I'm currently reading another Love Inspired Suspence book. I'll let you know if it follows the same genre.
I was trying to just get a close shot of some of the rust that has developed making it multi-colors of oranges and the many shades of brown. So I was playing around with my camera to see if I couldn't capture these colors. Even though the sun was shining it was coming through many tree branches that surround this spot, which created shadows on spots I wanted to be clearer. I thought I might try to paint this sometime in the future but I don't know how realistic it would be. I love abstract paintings that depict a blending of color instead of a detailed replica of the picture. So this may become a very abstract painting just because I do not want the accuracy.
I don't know maybe I'll have two make a couple of paintings or maybe I'll just have pictures printed. I'm not sure yet, but one thing I can tell you is that I was so surprised, SO SURPRISED that I grabbed my sons arm and said "that's my quatrafoil". I was surprised it was just over my head. All I needed to do was look up.
I have started a daily post that shares something "little" each day. I need to notice the "little" things that bring me happiness. It could be just a moment or an incident that brings a smile to my face or joy to my heart.

I found joy in sharing over this past weekend at a scrapbook event with family and friends. The event planner, Chris, on the left had the theme as "It's the little things". Which is so true. With Thanksgiving coming up this month, I thought it would be nice to look for something I'm being thankful for each day.
So many little things added up to make an enjoyable weekend for me. One was bringing a friend along who I wanted to get to know better. I totally enjoyed myself not just because she came but because she usually accomplished only one or two pages at our Friday night crops. From start to finish this weekend she had accomplished 12 pages. I was so excited for her as she took a baby step while working on her scrapbooks. I had fallen into this habit myself of always sorting the pictures again and again each time I attended a cropping event, instead of actually accomplishing pages.
I didn't know how to get to the next step of how to actually get my pages together. It was truly a blessing when I stumbled upon Sarah's technique so I gleaned this information. Sarah Eelkema who has given wonderful useful tidbits of how to be successful while scrap booking has contributed a few post concerning this topic on Jen's blog named "IHeart Organizing".
Sarah has become the person I keep referring back to even though I do not have all the folders or containers for each event, I can still mimic her process by simply sliding my grouped items I want for the page I'm laying out into the album sleeves. When I noticed my creative scrap booking friend whom seemed to be spinning her wheels, I let her in on the amazing discovery. She was so pleased with herself and I found joy in sharing this "little" organizing procedure watching my friend accomplish so much. I am already planning for my next week Tuesday evening crop right here in town.
Infront of the FED Building is this two dimensional exhibit. His statement is to conjour up personal faith or belief. I loved this shot as dusk approached.
I really enjoy myself whenever I attend an event held at my alma mater so when my husband and I received invitations to view 8 artists' work entered into ArtPrize this year we jumped at the chance. Out of the eight artists only 6 works of art are pictured here due to my poor quality picture taking.
I think Seungmo Park has a winner here as his sculpture reveals an image to us from multiple sheets of steel mesh. Again a very impressive piece chosen to be on display in the Fed Building.

The other 2 artist I missed are Julie Green with the exhibit named "The Last Supper", which deals with capital punishment. And Katarzyna Kozyra's "Looking for Jesus" film with a study of the Jerussalem Syndrome. Very interesting but because it was a film I couldn't take a photo of it.
First one that came to mind was the famous bronze door castings by Lorenzo Ghiberti. I remember these doors from my college Art History classes and before I get to far ahead of myself you may be wondering what a quatrefoil looks like.

The usuage of the quatrafoil throughout the years in architecture appears as a dominating choice today through several industries. Not only is the quatrefoil found on exterior doors and buildings, but many manufacturers of carpet, material, wood, plastics, and wallpaper display the design as a current design choice. I plan on talking about those too, but that will be in another post. Today I want to specifically zero in on exterior Architecture.

Here it was designed into this cute garden area and is a definite focal point. American Architects are using the quatrefoil in their creations as shown in this photo below of a residential home in Southern California.

Clearly you can see how this shape has benefitted the design world. From the early 1100's cathedrals constructed to present day, architects remain firm in using the quatrefoil shape.

Take a look around your town to see if you can spot them either in old or new construction sites.

I will keep on the lookout and report any of my findings.

Office Update

If you have an obsession to be organized like I do then you must love the saying "A place for everything and everything in it's place." I feel like I have my act together whenever someone needs something and I can go directly to that item without searching for it. Somehow over the last 6 years I lost that capability to find everything or even know if I still had that item in question. Trying to get back some of that control over my household has been driving me to achieve that organization I once possessed.

I drew this little plan with labels on several boxes with the hope that if I saw it on paper I would be able to eliminate everything that wasn't neccessary. Color coding my boxes helped me see progress since the clutter was so distracting. Although it would be really nice to say I am finished or to just hurry through, which neither are the case, but I do have progress to report.

1. First I must go on record to say 'It has been so hard to let things go.' I have been toting extra baggage around because my thoughts were 'I might need that (fill in the blank book, item) someday.' Some of the squares on the floorplan are not actual boxes but piles like the yellow ones ontop of the desk. Because I think yellow is a happy color I started here. As I worked sorting/shredding I could see immediate results. This also created a TO BE FILED pile, which started a domino effect.

2. Since I did not have an empty drawer to place my TO BE FILED papers in. I knew my next task would be to empty the file cabinet drawers. I knew this old metal 4 drawer cabinet was packed full. In it I found a ton of unnecessary papers, Homeschooling information plus visuals, old client info, and manuels to equipment we no longer had!! More sorting and shredding.

3. Amid all the sorting, shredding I received an invitation to sell Homeschool curriculm one Saturday last month. Notice that the school books are removed from the office YEAH!! My daughters assisted me in the sale from gathering, sorting, & pricing books and other school products. Simply removing these books helped to eliminate the boxes off the floor in front of the file cabinet and book shelves. I would not have been able to sell these item without the words of wisdom from my aunt Betty. She said "It's time to embrace this new chapter in your life."
I let those words sink in.
Just accepting the fact that I no longer need curricula brings the reality that my little babies have grown up. ;{

Clearing out the school books allowed for emptying a few more boxes and I had double rows of books on several shelves. I still need to rearrange the books I do want to keep, and there are still quite a lot, but the shelves are no longer gasping for relief.

4. It's funny how all this overlaps and I really can't list these tasks out numerically. But I can tell you that the next move was to empty all the mini file totes and place those items inside the tall file cabinet. This was a bigger task than removing books, because I'm still sorting/shredding. I have a joke for you that I saw on the top of my bank statement. It asked "What's black and white, and read all over?' The answer was 'your bank statement.' So shredding is important to me however our recycle days are every other week and lets face it that bin can only hold so much. I am feeling like I'm back to square one except that I have acheived a little more breathing room. I didn't sell all of my homeschool items, but I will not be bringing them back into this space. Those totes I used to transport books to the sale will be placed in the attic as soon as I cross off everything sold. I need to update/finish my craig's list of these books for sale while I wait for the next opportunity I have to sell them which is next spring.

I will report progress soon. Hopefully.
THANKS again to Rachael Ruiz from television Channel Eight for the tickets we appreciate your generous spirit. They were showing homes for two days but my husband and I only made it to a few on Sunday.

We had to wait in line but they weren't too bad and the doorman or woman explained a few features we should notice. People would reminisce about the home when they first moved into this area.

We enjoyed the historical information about the origianl home and how certain events happened bringing us to present day and their current owners. Pictured below is a beautiful sunrise design with closer look.

I really wished that I could have taken photo's inside but understand that this is someone's current home, people actually live in these beauties. After we explored this home and stepped outside to go to the next one I saw this unexpected coiffer detail completing the top of this home in lieu of more slats siding. It is a change from the typical design to be used on this scale. I guess that is what makes the Heritage Home Tours special because you see things that are unique.

The next home was located right next door and I was impressed by the similar floorplans with variations in the kitchen areas. I loved the exterior color combinations of the homes in Heritage Hill. All home owners must request for approval from the board any renovations, improvements or even to change the color of their home before proceeding.
One of the last homes we visited is notoriously called the Christmas House. The actual house was not pretty to me on the outside being painted blue, red, & white. The inside was very pretty with a huge collection on Christmas tree ornaments collected worldwide. I have since discovered that this lead glass light in the shape of a star are from Germany.

When we finished this home tour and stood on the porch while removing these cute little booties we had to over our own shoes, I happened to glance up and spotted this unusual porch light. While browsing through this edition of the Ballard magazine it occured to me of the similiar design since they are both leaded glass, and both stars. I was hoping to find an exact match on line but as close as I could get to it the Moravain Star. I feel that I at least know the origin of these stars and find it facinating that they were first created for a math assignment, read more here (STAR)

I did a search looking for one but ended up with a very fuzzy plan from Steelcase. This company purchased the Meyer May house in 1985 and that was the first time I had ever been through the home as a tourist. It has been a long time since 1985 until now and like I said I am trying to remember as best as I can while viewing the fuzzy Steelcase floorplan. After coming through the entry from very bright sunshine that day makes you very unsure of your surroundings. I do recall stepping up a few steps then turning upon the landing and coming into the dining room. The photo below reveals the entry as you'll notice the tour rope divider guiding us into the Dining Area.

It was extremely hard to see when first entering and I remember thinking how dark the house was even 30 years ago. So the first light we encountered is shining upward and several others I show not only provide ambient light but have dual purposes as art forms.

In the picture above you see this decorative oak railing sitting on the half wall which performed double duty not only being a wall divider from the foyer it blocked the cooler air in the winter months but allowed natural light to filter through. Plus it's so beautiful to look at because of the craftsmenship. I wish I had taken more photos and one I missed is the built in hutch.

This dining room table created by the FLW team is like no other. The light post at all 4 corners were designed to provide light (no need for candlestick) and had an area below the light so you could have flowers. I guess taking everything off the table allowed for food & place settings without the hinderance of centerpieces.

Sorry, it's so blurry. This is a beautiful wall with patterend wallpaper dividing the dining area and the living area. The tour guide said that although there isn't proof the design of poppy flowers in pink & yellow on a varigated blue backgound that resembles water may represent the many travels that Mr. Wright took to Lake Michigan.

All the furniture was designed by Mr. Wright and some replica pieces can be purchased. Specifically the bedroom furniture shown in the photos below. I so wanted to test out the chairs since I am a shorty and it was known that Mr. May whom the home was designed for was also a short fellow. This is a great shot because you can not only see the grand fireplace and library section on the right with a bench to sit upon while choosing a book, but you can also see more of the railing on the half wall of the stair well going up to the second floor. I love the clearstory windows that are on the North side of the house as they would let light into the stairway especially during the winter months.

Did I mention I love this fireplace. Look at this horizontal grout it has metal particles mixed into it that reflect light. The vertical grout is plain so the whole fireplace gives a horizontal direction moving your eye around the room.

How clever is this? To hide a radiant heating unit behind a decorative grate made out of the gorgeous oak as prominent throughout the rest of the home.

This isn't the only sconce located in the living area but this photo shows the reflecting artistic pattern shining above the light. The picture below is the stairway leading to the second floor.

Arriving at the second level there are three bedrooms as I hope I'm telling you correctly when I say that one was converted into an office, plus the main bathroom which I didn't get a picture of and sitting room. Wow I really need to book another tour so I can get it all straight in my own mind. Don't you love these clearstory windows and this loft hallway? The roofs were designed to make the rooms feel more grandiose.

This home was designed with only a few places that you one could hang artwork. I never knew this but once it was mentioned by the tour guide then it seemed a bit funny. One spot was located overtop of the mantle in the Master Bedroom. Provided for you are wooden pegs so that your art of choice would not be any larger which would throw the scale of things out of whack.

I'd get behind then I'd tried to hurry to catch up with everyone else so I totally missed photos of the sitting area and the Girls Bedroom. OH the several photos I would have taken. This room (the Master Bedroom) is facing West and receives a great sunset.
Again because I was lagging behind trying to wait until rooms cleared of other tourist so I didn't hear all the information being presented. I did not catch the name of this dresser or of the crib on display in the Boys bedroom. The tour guide mentioned these furniture replica's may be purchased. This room is the SE side of the home.

I think this small room was converted into an office. It holds modern file cabinets today. It faces East and sits above the kitchen.

As we went back downstairs to exit the home we caught a glimpse of the kitchen which is no longer in the original state. Since the home is now a museum the kitchen has been modified and now hosts industrial sized appliances to fulfill party menus.

It would have been great to see the garage and tour the grounds because of the garden areas partitioned off from outside access. Another thing I had never considered but suppose it would be true is that although the house was beautiful it stood out like a sore thumb. The May children did not like the home since their classmates poked fun of them. Neighbors thought it was an unapproachable home since noone could locate the front door. Even Mrs. May did not like the home as she was use to Victorian style homes and the interior in this home felt massive and very constricive. I would have agreed with her back in 1908 and would have begged my husband to allow me to renovate.

I'd love to hear your comments, let me know how you would feel living in this home back in the day.
I have always been able to find the items I love and can't imagine living without. I am drawn to certain items because they are unique or have a simplicity to them that is unusual.
One color has always evaded me as I described it marine green, my family called it blue. So in order to finally have a name to call the color I went to my Sherwin Williams online account to match it. Both, dining room chairs legs and back and table legs have the color 'Rainstorm SW#6230' painted on them. The seats and the table top are stained a color closely matching the Minwax stain below called 'Ipswhich' (no longer available). We had this Armstrong linoleum (#G6210 Abella - Ivory ) on our floor through the dining and kitchen area. They matched wonderfully as the 'Rainstorm' blue on our table brought out the blues and grays in it, while the Minwax Stain called 'Ipswhich' (no longer available) so substitute 'Gunstock 231' brought out the orange & browns.
My walls where painted Marshmellow and this dining room/kitchen was my favorite area. And now I have begun a color folder to reference when I need to match items I'd like. If you happen to browse the new July Ballard book you will find the 'Spa' color showing up everywhere. I've noticed 'Spa' on different fabrics, on different furniture and what a relaxing light blue it is. I have added this color to my favorites because it reminds me of summer. My take on it is matched to a Sherwin Williams paint called 'Topsail #6217'. It is close to a light blue sky or a robin egg blue.
Not only do I want to make a beautiful dividing wall in copper but I'd love this artwork. The blues, honeycomb yellow, topsail blue, and the marshmellow white would fit in perfectly with my favorite colors.
It is so fun to sit out on the deck infront of the camper and just enjoy my summer. I usually read,
(currently I'm reading a Sheryl Woods book 'Home in Carolina') and sometimes watch TV, (love the Blue Bloods series with Tom Selleck) and when the pool isn't too crowded, I cool off in the shallow end. This year so far hasn't given us great weekends the exception being over the 4th of July and the camp was full.
